Martin Heron has been designing artworks for the public realm since 1999. During this time he has created sculptural works for cities, towns, buildings, and green spaces across the United Kingdom. Martin believes, “…art should encourage and stimulate interaction with the world around us. It should evoke a sense of pride and wonder for the unique quality of the places where we live, visit and work. The right public art, in the right place can contribute to the heritage, culture and future economy of the area by creating inspirational places with proactive communities and thriving tourism opportunities.
I produce work that is relevant to its location, enabling a sense of place and a new identity to develop. A focus of my work is to engage with local people, developers, architects, landscapers and others involved with a project. This enables me to make work that is truly site specific and that fits the overall vision of each particular location.”
